Digital transformation in the public sector is linked to administrative modernization, but its effects also extend to work organization, professional relationships, and the well-being of public servants. This study aims to analyze the impacts of digitization on work in the public sector, with an emphasis on work overload and the challenges of people management in balancing innovation and organizational well-being. The research employs a qualitative approach and is theoretical and bibliographic in nature. The literature review was organized into three categories: reconfiguration of work dynamics, intensification and work overload, and challenges for people management. The results of the review indicate that the incorporation of technologies can increase process efficiency but also intensify demands, reinforce control mechanisms, and make it difficult to draw a line between work and personal life. The study also highlights the importance of training, leadership, organizational learning, and institutional support for civil servants to adapt to technological changes. The study highlights that digital transformation must be accompanied by management practices that take into account working conditions and the effects of these changes on employees, in order to reconcile institutional objectives with the promotion of organizational well-being.
