THE LEEI-SUL PROJECT AS A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE OF PRESCHOOL TEACHERS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CORDILHEIRA ALTA, SANTA CATARINA, BRAZIL

This article discusses continuing education as an important strategy for improving teachers' skills and abilities throughout their professional careers, as well as improving the quality of their work in schools. The overall objective is to investigate the contributions of the Reading and Writing in Early Childhood Education Project (LEEI) training sessions to the development of reading and writing skills in the school context of the municipality of Cordilheira Alta, Santa Catarina. This explanatory field research was conducted with one of the classes formed in the municipality that participated in the LEEI Project. Reflective records and analysis of questionnaires completed by four teachers via Google Forms were used, in light of official documents related to the topic. Based on the interpretation of the data, the impact of the training sessions in the school context was investigated. It was concluded that the training offered by the LEEI Project represents an important opportunity to promote meaningful learning, constituting a key element in improving the quality of teachers' pedagogical practices.
