ABSTRACT
The multigrade in Brazilian riverside schools survives over the years in different regions of the country, with a significant contingent of students, it needs reformulations, since problems of different facets are present in these educational institutions. This article aims to: Identify the main bottlenecks that hinder the teaching-learning process in the early grades of elementary school in multigrade classes. Precarious schools, lack of teachers, reduced number of students and age-grade distortion are some of the problems that prevent the satisfactory learning of students in multigrade schools. This article is characterized as a work of a basic nature with a qualitative and bibliographic approach. For the elaboration of the present work, searches were carried out on the internet of works already carried out and published. The bases used in the research were Scielo and Google Scholar. Among the main problems found are the lack of adequate materials for the practice of teaching, schools with precarious structures and professionals without adequate training. It is necessary to rethink educational practices in multigrade schools, so that students have their rights related to quality education guaranteed.
