Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICTs) have brought profound transformations to contemporary society, directly influencing the educational field. Their integration into the teaching and learning process redefines how knowledge is constructed, shared, and applied. However, the effective use of these technologies faces significant challenges, such as unequal access, poor school infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training. National and international research and reports (NIC.br, BNCC, and UNESCO) show that digital exclusion exacerbates educational disparities, especially in socioeconomically vulnerable contexts. Authors such as Souza Neto, Pretto, and Buckingham emphasize the importance of understanding DICTs not merely as instrumental tools, but as central elements for the development of media and information literacy, fostering critical thinking, democratic citizenship, and essential 21st-century skills.
